GSAN, X Plastaz,Tanzania at the BET Awards

Africa stand the hell up! For those who missed it, G San of the well known Tanzanian rap group X Plastaz held it down with a mean swahili flow on the BET hip hop Awards last night. He definately deserves his bragging rights for this one..and for those wondering how this came about..in a nutshell X plastaz has had their ‘Nini dhambi kwa mwenye dhiki’ video on youtube..I don’t know why it took so long..but that’s another story. Anyway impressed,BET reached out and flew G San down to Brooklyn and let him spit his 16. Most would be star truck but in his interview with emcee Africa’s Lee Kasumba this is what he had to say before the show aired last night;“Well, the Cypher segment was recorded in New York before the actual award ceremony. For me, it was just amazing to be there with people like Eminem, KRS One, DJ Premier playing the beats, and being able to showcase what I had. Many people were blown away with what I did and asked me why I rhymed in Swahili ‘cause they wanted to understand. I was just like ‘English is not my first language, I speak it, I love it but you will be able to mess me up if I rhyme in English’. There were emcees from all over the world in one setting, and I was happy to represent for Africa. I wasn’t starstruck, just glad to showcase what I did and could do with my American counterparts. I mean, think of it, we really have the same names, just one word changes, African American and African, do you understand what that means?”

Big up Tanzania,X Plastaz and of course G San..You did our Africa proud, now to the next chapter of world hip hop dominance..

Banky W-Strong Tings

Usher and Omarion aint got nothing on Banky full name Olubankole Wellington..not willington,as he says in his blog. Which I suggest alot of you should go check out. An educated African man with this much talent is a very dangerous but much needed thing for Africans..not to digress but here is what banky wrote to the well renowned journalist of the Guardian Newspaper, Mr Reuben Abati…

“As an editorial head of a National Newspaper, you owe it to your public to at least do proper and accurate research before printing an article. The risk in not doing so, is you might unknowingly mislead your readers, and you might actually come across as being ignorant or out of touch. A quick look at all the reference names of artistes and songs mentioned in the article goes to show that the author was sadly way off base in his accusations and examples”

Viva La revolucion brother!! he further continues to school Abati on the relevance of our generations music that would have made a father proud!! Read here to continue the article.
He went all out in the making of the video, which is very impressive. All round the song, the lyrics, the video is A++. Africa’s future is looking bright don’t you think??  BlackMedley Certified!!
